Sourced from a tiny 0.6 acre block of Chardonnay grapes in Stewart Vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The wine was fermented in neutral French oak to create a rich, rounded texture but with no oaky flavors. It did not go through malolactic fermentation (secondary fermentation) in order to preserve the natural acidity of the wine. (130 cases produced)
The 2021 Chardonnay Ribbon Ridge opens with a confectionary array of white flowers, Jordan almonds and peach sorbet. This is cool-tones and lifted in feel, with silken textures and polished pit fruits that swirl across an opulent stream of vanillin custard. This finishes with a gentle tension and admirable length, leaving hints of candied citrus to linger. Eric Guido, Vinous (May 2024) 91pts
